The University has developed role descriptors to describe key leadership roles fulfilled by academic staff.
In developing the roles it has been recognised that some flexibility is required to meet local needs and circumstances, so school and faculty executives should make sure that the responsibilities quoted in the role descriptor documents are appropriately discharged and that a workload allowance is ascribed to role holders.
For those roles where a formal recruitment process is undertaken (for example for Pro-Dean or Director of Student Education) school and faculty executives should work closely with HR to produce a person specification.
