Professorial and senior staff salary review
The 2023 Professorial Pay Review is now open for application.
All non-clinical professors are invited to submit an application for one of the following:
• A request to be promoted to a higher professorial zone
• An increase in basic salary (in addition to any annual increment)
• A one-off payment
Whilst Professors are invited to submit an application, Executive Deans and Heads of School have been invited to engage with Professors in their faculty to encourage them to submit an application where they are willing to support such cases. You should therefore discuss any potential application with your Head of School or Executive Dean before applying.
Further guidance can be found in the documents at the bottom of this page.
Please note all forms must be submitted to reward@leeds.ac.uk by 23:59 on Friday 23 June 2023.
The approval committee will meet to review all applications. This is likely to happen in September.
Outcomes of the committee meeting will be communicated in September or October with all substantive increases to basic salary effective from 1 August 2023. Any one-off payments approved by the committee may be paid as part of the next available payroll.
Please note, that the application process is changing slightly this year. Applicants seeking promotion to a higher professorial zone will now be required to provide details of 2 referees rather than 3 as has been requested in the past.
If you have any queries regarding the process please contact your HR contact or e-mail the Reward team at reward@leeds.ac.uk
Clinical Professors
If you're a clinical professor, you'll be paid in line with nationally agreed, published NHS pay scales and, in addition, you're able to apply for Clinical Excellence Awards which recognise contribution (including academic contribution). You are therefore not eligible to apply through this process.
