Cycle to Work Scheme

Cycle to Work with Cyclescheme

Our Cycle to Work Scheme is a fantastic benefit to your physical and financial wellbeing and help promote sustainable travel.

The amount that you can borrow via our scheme has increased from £1,000 to £3,000 so you can now access electric bikes, mobility bikes and higher quality bikes and safety equipment.

The University is partnered with Cyclescheme, that has a network of over 2000 independent cycle stores nationwide for staff to select a bike and safety equipment that is right for your lifestyle.

It’s so easy to save with the Cycle to Work scheme. You simply choose a bike from over 2,000 retailers, hire it for 12 or 24 months from Cyclescheme via a salary sacrifice arrangement that will help you save 26-40% on a new bike for work

For more information and to participate in the Scheme, please see our FAQs below.

Many staff are working from home at the moment. If you apply to join the Scheme you must meet all the normal conditions which means at least 50% of the cycle’s use must be for ‘qualifying journeys’, i.e., commuting to work purposes. Failure to do this means that the cycle no longer meets the tax exemption requirements and you could be liable for an income tax benefit in kind charge. Please ensure that you will be meeting the conditions before you apply.

For those who have a current arrangement via the previous provider, Edinburgh Bike Co-operative, please contact the staff benefits team if you have any queries; staffbenefits@leeds.ac.uk
