Removal expenses (applies to appointments at Grade 7-9)

This policy explains who is eligible for removal expenses, what we will reimburse you for and how much you can receive.

Academic and Academic related (Professional and Managerial) staff can apply for removal expenses if they:

  • accept a University funded post (excludes research grant funded posts) that is for two years or more;
  • accept a post that has been advertised nationally;
  • live outside a radius of 25 miles of LS2 and move within this distance to take up the post.

We will only reimburse the cost of moving household effects, including storage and insurance for up to six months.

The costs must be reasonable and up to a maximum of £5,000.
