Our reward and recognition policy tells you what your manager can recommend you're awarded, for contribution over and above what's normally expected of you.
- The policy applies to all University employees on grades 2 to 9, as well as clinical academic staff who are below consultant level (with the exception of clinical academic doctors and dentists in training who are not eligible for ASIs and DIs).
- There are two sections: Reward, which is an annual process relating to salary increments for consistent and sustained performance above what's expected of you within your role; and Recognition, which is an ongoing scheme where your manager can recommend awards for instances of excellent performance.
- If you think you should receive an award through either the Reward or Recognition scheme, you can speak to your manager or your HR Manager.
Status as of 14 July 2020: In April 2020 given the unknown impact of the coronavirus pandemic, we paused our reward schemes. The University Executive Group (UEG) have considered carefully the paused processes and discussed in detail what our approach should be. We believe it is important that our processes are available to recognise continued exceptional contribution and the current pause to our reward processes is being lifted for this current 2019/20 process cycle.
The processes have been reviewed and slightly streamlined to ensure that they can be concluded in as timely a way as possible whilst maintaining robust decision-making and sign-off when considering awards as appropriate to the financial considerations.
Update on 25 September 2020: Following feedback, Faculty and Service HR Managers are sharing with Executive Deans and Heads of School/Service how we will receive and process submissions, to allow us to extend the closing date for manager recommendations to Friday 23rd October 2020. It should be noted that this date is fixed, without exception, to ensure that approved awards are paid in December payroll.
