This policy explains what we mean by 'leave of absence' and 'study leave' and when it is appropriate to apply for such leave. It also outlines the arrangements for your pension contributions where appropriate.
- A leave of absence is absence on either part pay or no pay, normally for no more than two years.
- Your Faculty/School/Service will not normally be liable for the employer's pension contributions whilst you are on a leave of absence.
- Study leave is granted on full pay and you might need to submit a report on the work you have completed.
- Your pension contributions will still follow the normal arrangements when you are on study leave.
