Time off for medical and dental appointments

This document outlines what types of appointments are covered under this policy, and it explains what you should do if you need to take time off for a medical or dental appointment.

  • You should try to arrange an appointment in your own time for preventative health screenings.  If you are not able to do so you should ask your manager if you can take the time off without loss of pay.
  • You should arrange appointments with doctors, dentists, or opticians in your own time.  If you can’t do this you should ask your manager if you can make the time up.
  • You can have paid time off for ante natal care including midwife appointments, or time off for hospital appointments, but you need to show your appointment card to your manager.
